O político Paulo Maluf, 82 anos, integra a ‘difusão vermelha’, nível máximo de alerta da Interpol, sendo procurado por fraude e roubo. Em março de 2007, a Justiça de Nova York emitiu pedido de prisão de Maluf e de seu filho sob a acusação de envio de recursos desviados da Prefeitura de São Paulo a bancos dos Estados Unidos.
O nome do político brasileiro saiu da lista da Interpol, mas voltou em 2010. Ele pode ser preso se deixar o país. A defesa dele afirma que a eventual prisão a pedido de um Estado estrangeiro viola a soberania brasileira porque Maluf integra um dosPoderes do país – ele é deputado federal pelo PP-SP
